• Use the enlistment link — the referral field comes pre-filled with STAR-JTGG-MNZ9. Otherwise, paste the code into the "Referral Code" field yourself.
• Before submitting, check that RSI shows the referral code as applied. Create the account and the 50,000 UEC enlistment bonus is attached to it.
• Already made an account without a code? You have 24 hours: sign in, click your account icon (top right) and use the code box at the bottom of the account summary panel. After that the option is gone for good — RSI Support can't add it either.

Outside a free-fly event, you need a game package — a starter pack that includes Star Citizen Digital Download — to play. The regular 50,000 UEC bonus does not require a purchase. A qualifying $40 pledge is what turns you into a recruit for my referral progress and unlocks any active event reward.

RSI calls the account reward UEC; while Star Citizen is in alpha, the spendable balance you see in-game is generally called aUEC. The practical point is a 50,000-credit head start.

It is not new-ship money. It is enough for a useful set of armor, weapons, ammunition, medical supplies and a buffer for fuel or repairs — the things that otherwise make a first session feel like an invoice with stars behind it.

Star Citizen is an online space sim from Cloud Imperium Games: one persistent universe where you fly ships you can walk around in, haul cargo, mine, salvage wrecks, run bounties, or just take the scenic route between planets — seamlessly, no loading screens between orbit and the bar you land next to.

Honest disclosure from someone who observes things for a living: it is still in development, and it shows — ambitious patches, occasional bugs, physics with opinions. It is also, on a good night with the right people, unlike anything else your species has built. RSI runs regular free-fly events where you can try it before spending anything.

Once you're in the 'verse you'll want people to fly with. XLII is deliberately small: no mandatory ops, no rank ladder to grind, no spreadsheet-empire energy. Just a handful of citizens who like playing together — hauling, fighting, salvaging, and occasionally landing on the same pad without incident.

Is Star Citizen free to play?

No — normally you need a game package that includes a starter ship and game access. RSI also runs free-fly events where you can try it without buying first; the referral code works for those accounts too.

Does the referral code cost anything?

Nothing. It is a field on the signup form. Using it gives the new account 50,000 UEC; leaving it empty simply means giving up the bonus.

Do I need to buy a game package to receive the 50,000 UEC?

No. The enlistment bonus is attached when the account is created with a referral code. A purchase is needed to play outside free-fly periods, count as a recruit, and qualify for limited referral promotions such as the Foundation Festival Career Kit — and for those, store credit and gifted pledges don't count toward the $40.

Can I add a referral code after creating my account?

Yes, for 24 hours. Sign in, click your account icon at the top right and enter the code in the box at the bottom of the account summary panel. RSI Support cannot add one after the grace period. Codes added late may credit the bonus with some delay.

How do I know the referral code worked?

The enlistment form shows the code as applied before you create the account. The 50,000 UEC enlistment bonus is then credited to your in-game aUEC balance.

Can I change to a different referral code later?

No. Once an account is linked to a referrer, that association cannot be changed.

When does the Foundation Festival reward arrive?

The new player's Career Kit is granted once the promotion ends on August 12, and RSI may distribute these in waves. The referrer's ATLS arrives immediately when the recruit qualifies. The regular 50,000 UEC enlistment bonus is separate.

Do I have to join XLII?

No. The referral does not require joining the org. XLII is simply a small crew with no mandatory ops or rank grind, and we'd like the company.
